Lessons Learned Through the Storms preached by Dr. Will

Matt. 14:22-33, John 6:20-21, James 1:2
It is through the storms that Christians learn valuable lessons to mature them in Christ's goal for their lives.

Apostle Paul was ship wreck, beaten and left for dead but, understood that these light afflictions are no comparison for the joy set before us.

When end we go through the storms in faith we become a light to the world.

God does not want us to be afraid in the storms. Fear cancels out faith. Fear says, we believe what the devil says more than what God says.

Storms does not always mean pay back for sins. Sometimes they are test to reveal your faith In God. God is not a pay back God. Ask Job (Have you tried my servant Job).

Whatever the storm is God will give you strength to bear it.
God says come unto me if you are weary and heavy laden, I will give you rest. Get yoked up to God and learn of him.
Learning about God releases power in our lives to help us stand.

Sometimes it seems like the more you live for God the more storms come. Often man's response in the storms is to row harder. But, the winds don't cease. We need Jesus in the storm and to realize that He cares for us. Our rowing will take us no where. Trust in God.

All thing will work for our good. God has a plan for our lives and every event is in sync with the plan.

The church and families will work through storms better when we get in sync with the plan of God.

In the storm keep your eyes stayed on Jesus. Don't let the storm be the main attraction. Don't let it distract us from Jesus. Peter walked on water and only began to sink when he took his eyes off Jesus. Keep. JESUS As the main attraction.
You won't sink.

We we grow in the storms! Don't worry about the severity of the storm. Keep Jesus as the main attraction.

Exploring God's antidote:
The fruit of the spirit -part 3
"Temperance"
Galatians 5:22-23
Key points
🔑
We are more than a conqueror!
Problems can be external or internal!
The fruit of the spirit are wholistic.
The fruit of the spirit is not automatic.
The fruit of the spirit will keep you from messing up!
What is temperance
Temperance is more than "self-control"
Temperance is choosing to place oneself under the direction of Christ.
Temperance is the most important fruit!
23. And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
You can't follow God doing your own thing.
Even when you do something good it doesn't mean temperance.
Why you did is much as what you did to God.
21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
God see what you did
Who's your coach and who's commander
Temperance gives us victory
25. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
27. But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Display temperance with...
1. with your words.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
2. your imagination.
5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
3. Your emotions
4. Your desires
Exercise balance
Temperance requires training
The Holy Spirit will help you

Give Your best to God
even if your situation does not look like what you want it want it to. Jesus our deliverer looked beaten and bruised when going to the cross. Maybe he looked like a looser but yet,he was our deliverer. 2000 plus years later the blood still works.
